Energize WV Receives State and National Honors

Energize West Virginia captured ten "Addy" awards in late February from the Advertising Association Federation (AAF) of West Virginia. The Addy competition recognizes creative excellence in advertising.

Each year 20 Gold awards, 20 Silver awards and one Best of Show are given to the top advertising agencies in West Virginia. This year the judges opted to bestow an additional award called “Judges Choice” based on the strength of the entries. That award also went to Energize WV.

Energize WV won six Gold and four Silver Addys for print ads, flash animation, direct mail pieces and the radio campaign that featured John Corbett as the spokesperson for Energize WV.

"I was thrilled, proud and excited to accept on behalf of Energize West Virginia," said Kim Lawrence, executive director of Energize WV and a partner with Rainmaker which won a total of 21 Addys (more than any other agency in West Virginia) including Best of Show.

Earlier in the year, Energize WV was named a Reed Award winner by Campaigns and Elections’ Politics Magazine for its radio spot, “It’s All Good,” featuring Energize WV spokesperson John Corbett.

West Virginia's natural gas industry spotlighted in national competition.

ENERGIZE WV RADIO SPOTS FEATURING JOHN CORBETT ARE DESIGNATED AMONG BEST IN NATION.

Energize West Virginia with Natural Gas has achieved national recognition yet again. The prestigious Washington, D.C.-based Politics magazine announced last week its finalists for the Reed Awards, an annual competition that honors the best work in the nation in public affairs advertising. Two radio spots produced by Rainmaker on behalf of Energize West Virginia were selected as finalists for the coveted awards.

In two separate categories, "Best Use of Voice Over Talent," and "Best Radio Ad-Public Affairs," Rainmaker’s radio spots for Energize West Virginia with Natural Gas were singled out for recognition. Both spots featured West Virginia native and Hollywood actor John Corbett as the spokesperson for the state’s natural gas industry.

The national awards will be given out on January 29th in Washington, DC at the Reed Awards Conference and Dinner.

Rainmaker, a Charleston-based public relations and advertising firm founded in 2005 by partners Larry LaCorte and Kim Lawrence, won a Reed Award last year. Two years earlier, Rainmaker won another national honor for Energize West Virginia when the Energize WV logo was named a Pollie winner by the American Association of Political Consultants.

"What an honor for our state’s natural gas industry to be showcased on a national stage," said Energize WV President Lloyd Jackson. "We are proud of the progress that has been realized with this effort over the past three years and we congratulate Rainmaker for its continued good work."

"It is especially exciting to achieve this recognition for West Virginia’s natural gas industry," said Rainmaker’s Kim Lawrence who also serves as executive director of Energize West Virginia. "It’s a great opportunity for the entire country to hear these radio spots and learn more about the tremendous benefits of natural gas."
